Nokia N97 - destroying the opposition in 2009?
Nokia N97 - what makes it so special? The Nokia N97 shocked a great many people when it was announced at the tail-end of 2008, and the main reason for the excitement it"s generated is that it"s the second mainstream touchscreen phone Nokia have ever made (the first being, of course, the 5800). The Nokia N97 uses the sleek, intuitive Symbian S60 Touch interface, but it also includes a full, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, so that after you"ve navigated through the cool menus, actually typing that text message or email is going to easier than ever.
Nokia are billing the N97 as a true mobile multimedia computer, a view backed up by the keyboard and incredible interface. However, the Nokia N97 also has its fair share of features to earn that title. You get a 5 megapixel camera for pin-sharp photos and a superb multimedia centre; best of all, though, the Nokia N97 has a massive 32Gb of built in memory, in order for you to actually store all your photos, movies and music. You also get HSDPA internet access, at true broadband speeds, and GPS.
Toshiba TG01 - the biggest screen in the universe
There"s little doubt that Windows Mobile is one of the big operating systems in the world. However, to get the best out of it, you really need a phone with a fast processor, a big screen, and a custom user interface on top, not unlike the Sony Ericsson X1 or HTC"s range of handset. Well now, there"s a new kid in town, called the Toshiba TG01, and it fulfils all three of those criteria. Not only that, but as well as the custom interface, it has the biggest screen of any mobile phone, and the fastest processor, coming in at 4.1 inches, and 1GHz, respectively.
The Toshiba TG01 is quite simply the most powerful Windows Mobile phone out there...
Samsung i8910 HD - 3.7 inch screen and HD video
So, you"ve got the Nokia N97, with its 3.5 inch screen, and a full, slide-out keyboard. And on the other, there"s the Toshiba TG01, with its massive screen, and its key feature (the fastest mobile processor in the world). And then, there"s the Samsung i8910 HD... Whilst it has an 8 megapixel camera, the Samsung i8910 HD is also the first phone to record true 720p HD video. Never before has a phone been able to capture video at that massive high resolution, and coincidentally (or is it coincidence? Maybe not...), the Samsung i8910 HD captures high-def video at the exact quality that Youtube display high-def videos at. It"s very possible that the Samsung i8910 HD was designed with its main feature being the ability to get yourself on Youtube, in high-definition. Only time will tell if it can topple the mighty Nokia N97, but the Samsung i8910 HD will undoubtedly be one of the phones of the year.
